LEARNINGTEX

Esther Pujol

LEARNINGTEX project intents to improve labor hiring in the textile sector, especially in countries with low employment rates like Portugal and Spain, providing companies with high skilled workers to compete against third countries.

After 16 months of work,  the project’s website was created (http://learningtex.eu/) for a better and updated  information about the work development done in the area, as well as a Twitter account (@learningtex) and a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/learningtex.eu/).

The first WorkPackage – “Design of WBL course, structure and contents” was developed during the first year of the project. To achieve the project’s goal, a diagnosis analysis on companies needs was performed in all participating countries (Austria, Portugal and Spain). Afterword’s, the LEARNINGTEX methodology and curriculum was defined, as follows:

UNIT 1: Introduction to woven fabrics

UNIT 2: Major defects in woven fabrics

UNIT 3: Introduction to the most advanced technologies for quality control: Artificial Vision

UNIT 4: Using Artificial Vision for woven fabrics defects detection

The MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on advanced technologies for textile quality control is each day closer to turn itself a reality. The audio will be in English, and the participants will have the possibility to choose subtitles in English, German, Portuguese and Spanish. Units 1 and 3 complete and now ready for translation.

In March and April, partners will present the Open Educational Resource to Vocational Training Students in Austria, Home Textile Stakeholders in Portugal and Clothing Stakeholders in Spain. This presentation will consist of the demonstration of the MOOC contents, some recorded videos from Units 1 and 3, hence showing how accessible and user-friendly the MOOC is.
