NEW ONLINE TEXTILE STANDARDS & LEGISLATION TOOL

MCL Global and the European Outdoor Group today launch a unique, easy-to-use on-line resource that details over 70 textile sustainability labels, regulation and standards, in a bid to cut through the confusion surrounding environmental and social compliance in the global textile industry.

The new Textile Standards & Legislation (TSL) website combines all the very best elements of the long established Eco-Textile Labelling Guide from MCL together with the online SIGNS tool developed by the European Outdoor Group, and its members, to bring users a highly valuable resource that will be updated immediately on an on-going basis.

See how it works HERE.

Written and designed by industry experts and leading textile journalists, this new online resource allows the textile supply chain to search and then access key information on over 70 voluntary and mandatory global social and environmental textile standards and legal requirements. All the information is available in just one place at: www.textilestandards.com

Fully searchable by different criteria, TSL monitors changes to existing standards and legal requirements, provides details of new standards and laws on an on-going basis, and updates them within 24 hours to give the most incisive, accurate and timely information on the internet.

High quality content includes
• the full range of third party voluntary textile standards,
• mandatory regulations,
• management standards as well as
• all the key frameworks that impact on sustainability and social compliance in the supply chain.

Additionally TSL publishes 'how to' articles and other useful features that detail supply chain traceability requirements, standards and labelling.

"Since we have a longstanding and positive relationship with the European Outdoor Group on sustainability initiatives, it was natural that both organisations would work together on the creation of the new Textile Standards and Legislation website. Combining the best elements of our well-known Eco-Textile Labelling Guide and the EOG's online SIGNS tool has now resulted in a powerful new web portal by two leading organisations that have sustainability embedded into their DNA," said John Mowbray, Founder and Director of MCL Global.

"If you want your business to comply with the relevant social and environmental issues, need to minimise risk in your supply chain, avoid reputable damage to your brand, or have decided to source your products in a more responsible manner – then TSL is a fantastic and trusted information resource for your business," he said.

"Our original SIGNS online platform was created back in 2011 by EOG members with the intent of closing an information and knowledge gap that existed in the industry. Textile Standards and Legislation, as its successor, brings this effort to the next level by combining the EOG's industry knowledge with MCL Global's publishing and editorial expertise. Both our organisations have sustainability values embedded, and the fact that this collaborative work is now accessible to the textile, sports and outdoor industry at large is a great step forward.

In addition to the TSL web-site, MCL Global will publish a valuable snapshot of the on-line content, which will also be available to subscribers in the form of an 84 page printed booklet. It will include the most significant recent developments and changes from the new web-site but add comment and analysis to address everyday questions on standards such as bluesign, Oeko-Tex, EU Ecolabel, REACH regulations and the Higg Index – along with many more.

The printed edition is also being supported by Messe Frankfurt – a regular and long time partner of MCL Global on environmental and social compliance in the global textile industry.

Existing subscribers to the Eco-Textile Labelling Guide web-site and European Outdoor Group member companies will be able to gain full access to the new website.
